Renting villas in Greece can make for one of the most rewarding holidays. The azure waters of the stunning Aegean Sea, white-washed buildings, pretty fishing villages and friendly people are the main attractions, but since there are so many islands to choose from try to match your interests and expectations with the appropriate destination.
Popular Corfu, with its busy capital Corfu Town rich in Venetian architecture, has excellent sandy beaches and rugged mountains. Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, also a popular villas in Greece holiday destination, has snow-capped mountains and lush green coastal plains. Historical Knossos is the home of the fabled Minotaur. Laid-back Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, is a mix of steep-sided cliffs, lovely coves and sandy beaches.
Kos has beautiful beaches, pretty villages and plenty of archaeological remains including the 14th-century Castle of the Knights in Kos Town, and Roman and Hellenistic ruins. Villas in Greece, situated in the south east of the Aegean Sea, on mountainous Leros, offer pine, lemon and orange orchards and coastline with small bays that are ideal for swimming.

Situated in the north Aegean Sea, Lesvos was best known until recently for its olive orchards. But lovely castles, stunning beaches, Greek villas and original villages with excellent seafood restaurants are drawcards. Patmos, in the Aegean Sea, has a coastline indented with fantastic beaches.
Greek villas on cosmopolitan Rhodes, perhaps the most visited island, offer mountainous views, great beaches and lots of restaurants and fashionable shops. Samos, just next door to Turkey, has spectacular scenery, beaches, pretty mountain villages and the island's capital has an historic harbour. Spectacular Santorini, its cosmopolitan capital of Thira perched on the rim of a volcanic crater, has black sand beaches, impressive cliffs and dramatic scenery.
