Choose a Lanzarote holiday villa to suit your tastes and budget

This easternmost of Spain's Canary Islands, 110km off the coast of Morocco, is covered in volcanic rock of all forms and colours. With mountains, deserts and seaside cliffs, your Lanzarote holiday villa is bound to present fantastic, if slightly bizarre, vistas. The Timanfaya national park includes a volcano with lots of geothermal energy. Many of the small villages and towns, including Haria with its myriad palm trees, retain their traditional architecture. For cheap holidays Lanzarote offers many possibilities

Lanzarote holiday villa accommodation is plentiful in the south-east, from Costa Teguise through Puerta del Carmen and down to Playa Blanca. Here you'll also find bars and cafes, sandy beaches and sports activities such as parasailing, jetskiing or snorkelling. There is a nude bathing beach at Playa de Papagayo. Be sure to check the location of your Lanzarote holiday villa to ensure you have access to the type of activities you are interested in.

Lanzarote Villas and Vacations

Lanzarote has long been a popular destination for self catering holidaymakers.  As this small Canary Island boasts a large selection of good quality rental properties – as well as guaranteed sunshine all year round.  A winning combination that helps Lanzarote to attract hundreds of thousands of British tourists annually – as well as a good number of visitors from Germany and Ireland too.

There are some fabulous rental properties on the island – with the best villas in Lanzarote commanding rental rates of up to €2,500 per week during the busiest times of the year.  Which traditionally fall over Christmas and at Easter, as well as during the school summer holidays.    But thanks to the climate it’s possible to enjoy a villa break here at any time of the year.

Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca are the two biggest resorts on the island and consequently offer the best selection of rental properties.  Villas in Puerto del Carmen are slightly more expensive to rent – reflecting the fact that there is a smaller pool of properties to choose from here.  Expect to pay upwards of €600 per week.  Whilst villas in Playa Blanca can be rented for a couple of hundred Euros less.

Wherever tourists stay they will find that they are not very far from one of Lanzarote´s many beautiful beaches.  Many first time visitors expect to encounter black sand but unlike the larger Canary Islands such as Tenerife the vast majority of beaches on Lanzarote are made up of golden grains.

That´s not to say though that Lanzarote isn’t a volcanic island – on the contrary – as of all of the Canaries it endured eruptions most recently.  With the last major wave of seismic activity shaking Lanzarote back in 1824.  Which helped to create the stunning volcanic region which can be found in the centre of the island.

As well as beaches and volcanoes Lanzarote boasts a number of other natural attractions.  Such as the Valley of 1000 Palms in the north of the island and the Green Lagoon at El Golfo.  Whilst the famous local artist César Manrique also fused this surreal terrain with his own artistic aesthetic to create wonderful sights such as the Jameos del Agua and the Mirador del Rio.

Lanzarote is a pretty small island – you can drive from one end to the other in around an hour – so it´s very easy to explore.
